Ibogaine is a psychoactive alkaloid associated with the iboga plant. Accounts of ibogaine detox centers should be evaluated against transparent claims about screening, monitoring, staffing, escalation planning, and the limits of what is known.

Is ibogaine approved as a treatment in the United States?
